Amazon acquires game developer Double Helix Games

Amazon.com has acquired game studio Double Helix Games as part of its strategy to strengthen its games offering to customers.The company said in a statement Wednesday that it has acquired Double Helix “as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovative games for customers.”The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Amazon also declined to discuss whether it had acquired the gaming studio for its talent, a trend popularly known as acqui-hire, or for its games.Double Helix in Irvine, California, is best known for developing Killer Instinct for the Xbox One.
