Cameta Camera offers the refurbished Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR DX AF-S ED Zoom Lens for Nikon cameras, model no. 2197, for $209.95 plus $9.50 for shipping. That's $40 under our February mention of a refurb and $27 under the lowest total price we could find for a new one. This DX-format zoom lens features a High Refractive Index element, ED glass, and VR II image stabilization.
A 1-year warranty applies, although it's unclear who backs it.
