Skype disables People Hub in latest Windows Phone 8 release

January 05, 2013

Microsoft's Skype has disabled People Hub in the latest version of its application for Windows Phone 8 because the feature has reportedly been causing issues with device stability. "We are working with the Windows Phone team to resolve the issue and to enable the integration again in a future release," the company said in a blog post. Skype's integration with People Hub means that a contact's Skype username is listed alongside their phone number, email address and other relevant information in the user's contact list. The change means that Windows Phone 8 Skype users will no longer be able to initiate Skype calls from outside of the app itself. However, Skype background calls still work and users will be able to continue to receive calls when the app is not running in the foreground.
